Ventisquero Merlot Classic 2016

This Merlot comes from records of the Central Valley. Here grow some of the best wines of Chile. The terroir, the interaction of soil, climate, and vine, provides the optimal development and ripening of the grapes.

At the winery Ventisquero, owned by the family Gonzalo Vial, it is a comparatively young Chilean winery. Only in 1998, Ventisquero was founded. Since then the winery has a steady upswing, however, has now catapulted the Ventisquero even among the top five wineries in Chile. Behind the success is the greatest of care when it comes to working with the grapes and the wine cellar in preparation.

The grapes for this cuvée Clasico Merlot were destemmed, selected, and underwent a cold maceration before fermentation to extract optimum fruit and tannins. The temperature-controlled fermentation was carried out in stainless steel tanks. To give the wine a pleasant structure, a portion was grown in French oak barrels. As a result, a classic of Chilean wine – just like the name suggests it.

Tasting Notes

Appearance – Merlot Rosé is pink with ruby-red hints,

Nose – There is an abundance of fresh red fruits, strawberries, cherries, and raspberries mingled with floral notes.

Palate – In the mouth, it is fresh with a balanced acidity

Finish – It is soft-bodied with a long, fruity finish.

Serving Suggestion – Best enjoyed at a temperature of 10-12ºC, it is ideal as an aperitif,

Food Pairing – It goes well with light dishes such as white meats and pasta with tomato-based sauces and fresh cheese, as well as fish and shellfish dishes. Also soft cheese, poultry, pasta dishes, game, grilled fish go well with it
