Region: Yarra Valley
Appearance: Vibrant red, bright and alive.

Vineyards: Estate 35%, Estate A Sections 20%, Yarrawood 20%, Viggers 12%, Lusatia Park 5%, The Abbey 2%, Emu 2%, Other 3%.

Bouquet: Elegant, sweetly perfumed, red currant, cherry, woodland spice.

Palate: Medium weight, textural, plums, dark fruits, fine gentle tannin.

Suggested Cuisine: Gnocchi with pork or duck ragu.

General Characteristics: Dry / Medium Bodied

Cellaring: Will continue to develop complexity and interest for up to ten years if stored in a good cellar.

Vintage Conditions: 2012 were near-perfect growing conditions. Good fruit maturity, high natural acidity, abundant flavor at moderate alcohols, and generally a relaxed vintage team during the harvest.

Vineyard Selection: Fruit is selected from the vineyards listed and is predominantly from MV6 clones. The Estate vineyard includes sections B6, C7, and D5 (the only different clone being 777). The Section A Pinot is all from 25-year-old vines. Yarwood showed lots of perfume in 2012 with Lusatia, Emu, and Abbey combining aromatics, charm, and weight.

Winemaking: Hand-picked, sorted, and destemmed to six-tonne open fermenters. Natural fermentation with ambient yeast. Approximately 20 days of maceration and fermentation. Pressed and drained to tank and allowed to rest for 24 hours before racking via gravity to French oak casks for ten months.
